We are very happy to announce that our goal for establishing a network of distribution hubs for the paper has been reached. We now have 40+ initiatives signed up to distribute our four pilot issues next year – several of those sharing bundles with neighbouring Transition groups. Thank you to everyone for taking part.
Our new Distribution Manager, Mark Watson, is now contacting other initiatives all over the UK to see if they would like to come on board too. Do get in touch with him if you would like to join the network (markintransition@hotmail.co.uk). Distributors will be able to create and print their own local news, alongside the national edition, using a specially designed TFP template. We are roadtesting this now and design and editorial advice from the team will also be on offer.
Rolling out the Transition Free Press
So now the next goal is our crowd-funding appeal. We need to reach £10,000 (at least) by February 16. This will help us pay for printing costs and for our contributors. Can you help us get the presses rolling? We have 12 esteemed paper backers so far and are looking for many more. If you would like an individual subscription or to give one as a gift this is the way to go.
Do check out our site at BuzzBnk: https://www.buzzbnk.org/TransitionFreePress
Details about crowd-funding and our new editions are written up here.
Meanwhile here is a short video of the presses at our printers, Newspaper Club in action:
As they say: print is not dead!
